The benefits of scholarships

The benefits of scholarships
The benefits of scholarships The scholarship is a primarily financed help which might be offered by an establishment or any organisation either governmental or non-public. The aim of a scholarship is to assist those students who are deprived of financial resources to accumulate higher studies. There are different criteria of awarding scholarships including merit basis, want basis and employment skills basis. Scholarships are more of prestige for candidates to become productive beings of their society and return the favour in far better ways. A unique feature of a scholarship is that it isn’t a loan and therefore not meant to be repaid. Scholarships are considered to be rewards for deserving candidates who can bring positivity and productivity into the society. Scholarships don’t solely facilitate a candidate financially, in fact, there are several advantages come with this significant reward.

Scholarship as a monetary aid in achieving higher education

There are numerous students who desire to proceed with higher education including post-graduation and doctorate degree. The one greatest issue they face is unreasonably expensive funds which can’t be paid through their low wages. Because of that, some of them drop the idea of studying further and figure out how to acclimate to their salary with a consistent college degree and some make reserve funds for quite a long time to finance their studies and proceed with their dream of higher education. This issue has been solved with boundless scholarships which are being offered by instructive foundations, Governments, and numerous private corporate establishments. The educational expenses of post-graduate and Doctorate level are much higher than undergrad level studies and accordingly these scholarships are for the most part offered at post-graduate level to back the entire scholarly education.

Scholarship as means of opportunity to study in worthy institutions

Other than monetary help, scholarships have supported the students in procuring better and advanced education from widely acclaimed foundations. It is one thing to go for advanced education and secure a degree of post-graduate level or doctorate level, but, the huge accomplishment is to achieve that higher level degree from the world’s one of the best universities. The competition is extreme these days, thus, college sand enthusiastic researchers crave to complete higher education from world’s best colleges/ universities to secure the best place in the society. These institutions charge with greater annual dues which are not easy for every deserving candidate to pay. This is where the aid of scholarships began and helps the candidates to achieve their dreams. Through these scholarships, on the premise of scholarly knowledge, scholars get affirmation in the colleges and began their journey to develop intellectually. Scholarships help the researchers to procure more authentic information and furthermore funds the researchers to conduct studies which later appear as prominent disclosures and developments. It will be justified to conclude that scholarships have helped the scholars to develop intellectually and turned them into a valuable individual.

Students’ aid through monthly instalment, as part of scholarship

Students, who are passionate to acquire more knowledge and discover the depths of their fields, are much indulged in their studies, as a result of which, part-time jobs become difficult for them. Especially, the scholars who are enrolled in post-graduate and doctorate courses, are much consumed by assignments, presentations, and dissertations. It’s difficult for them to earn and fulfil their basic needs. To solve this issue of students, scholarships began to offer monthly instalments, through which candidates can pay all basic expenses. These can be used to pay the expenses including:
  • Necessary clothing expenses
  • Educational stationary expenses
  • Meal expenses
  • Traveling expenses
  • Accommodation expenses

Scholarships bring prestige and motivation for scholars

Scholarships are not only financial funds but also considered to be prestigious rewards for scholars and increase their motivations. The individuals who secure a scholarship and start their trip of higher education from great institutions are significantly encouraged to keep their honour and exhibit higher performance in studies to demonstrate their capabilities. This motivation which comes through scholarships is extremely beneficial for students regarding their education. They buckle down day and night to make the best utilisation of their reward and without squandering their time they finish their degrees in the shorter duration. Scholarship holders are constantly quicker to grow intellectually than the self-financed scholars and end up being prolific creatures of society. Author: Mike Jason, is an Education consultant. Online degrees or traditional education? Which degree lands you with a better job offer?

online-learning   Online learning has become a popular choice for students. More people are “going to class” online, and the trend is growing. In fact, more schools are giving their students the opportunity to learn remotely from home. But, what has brought on that change? As you will see, students are using the online option for a variety of reasons and becoming just as suitable to be hired, as traditional learners.

Interacting in online classes

While you may think that interaction in an online classroom does not exist, that is not true. Students interact in many ways. Although some online classes use webcams to hold conversations, many professors choose writing. The professor and students are able to view everything everyone says in chat rooms, and they reply by typing their message. But, there are other forms of written communication. E-mails, class notes and PDF files are all used to create the same learning experience as the traditional classroom setting. The main difference is the message’s medium. Online students also benefit from less-structured class times. You can make your own schedule as long as you meet deadlines.

Transforming the classroom

Because professors and students don’t meet in a structured setting for online classes, everyone has the freedom to be more independent in a transformed setting. As a result, learning is more personalised. Professors can tweak a lesson to fit how the student understands it. As such, professors will be able to figure out how each student learns, and change their process to fit a student’s needs. This can also eliminate problems that might have otherwise occurred based on the traditional setting. Another benefit of the less-structured model is that a student doesn’t have to go from one part of the lesson to the next, and so on, in order. They can go back-and-forth as needed. They can also go at their own pace. The ability to do so allows the student to control what they learn, how they learn a lesson and the pace at which they learn it.

Online learning consortium

But, the process of online learning is not as new as one would think. In fact, educators have been teaching online since 1992. The tools, resources, and guidance they have received have taught educators how to teach online effectively. As a result, they have helped students learn better by going at a student’s pace rather than the traditionally structured route.

Online bachelor’s degree programs

Many schools across the country are also using these tools on a regular basis. In fact, some schools have developed fully-online bachelor’s degree programs. As a result, students rarely need to even come to class at all. This less-structured setting is perfect for students who have a job or family that they need to focus on just as much.

Online degrees and the workplace

You may think that getting an online degree may hurt you when trying to find a job. However, that is no longer the case. In fact, many employers consider online degrees to be beneficial. Because students did not have the structure of a traditional classroom, they were able to make time for other necessities. As a result, they were able to multitask better than if they had been in a traditional setting. Therefore, online learning may give you an advantage.

One of the most common online learning tools is Blackboard. It provides a way for educators, and learners, to come together in a virtual setting to teach, and learn, just about any lesson that one needs to understand. However, schools are no longer the only institutions using it. Government leaders and businesses are also using the tool. Now that everyone is on-the-go in many ways, teaching and learning remotely have become a popular choice for many regardless of the field they are in. It allows them to learn at their own pace while being able to schedule every other task that they need to focus on. This ability also allows people to learn more beneficial skills for their job.

Online classes have become commonplace because of the less-structured setting. People are able to set their own schedules and learn the necessary lessons at their own pace. As such, they get the education they need to become just suitable to be hired, where employers are taking notice.

The truth about argumentation

presentation Argumentation is commonly associated with debate and its using does not require being adversarial. When trying to persuade, your first thought might be to avoid it. The kind of argument being discussed here is not bickering or being obnoxious or even debate, therefore do not think of it as attacking the opposing point of view. In its simplest form, it is putting forth reasons for or against a certain point of view. Argumentation can involve deductive reasoning, presentation and elaboration. It starts with a proposition, followed by an expression of a point of view on a subject and then supporting an evidence. The last one is added as principles to support the proposition used. Reasoning on the matter, applying inductions and deductions to the proposed thought are part of the argumentation. Continue reading “The truth about argumentation”

The MOOC Experience

The MOOC Experience Traditional forms of education have been rather busy exchanging barbs with the alternative ones. Online courses distance learning and MOOCs concepts which were introduced to augment certain aspects of education had become subject to attack. This scene is not even remotely surprising; while such alternative modes were designed to accommodate certain aspects, the probability that such coverage will later expand to all aspects pose a threat. In other words, MOOCs – in their premature state – are already envisioned to totally replace traditional forms. This heated exchange had somehow aroused a kind of curiosity among observers. In the learner’s perspective, would the MOOCs’ derived experience make any significant difference? Interestingly, is that difference valuable to the learner? Continue reading “The MOOC Experience”

Do you need to seek higher education to be wealthy?

Do you need to seek higher education to be wealthy? There are several important things to be considered, when one wants to get rich. One of the most important, is the fact that during your educational life, you should have to consider taking a solid course in the history of education. Why would this be important, you might ask? Because a solid understanding of the roots of institutional education enables you to realize that most of the education puts you in debt, never teaching you how to build wealth! In one occasion Henry Ford stated that it was a good thing that people in America had no understanding of how banks truly worked since if they did, most likely there would be a revolution as early as tomorrow morning! Considering the fact that the online education is quickly gaining the momentum, as well as the increased emergence of massive online courses (MOOCs) higher education is shaken to its core. Its value, its status, its cost is also changing. The fact how young people envision their education is changing their < future development and choices. Facts you need to know about education verification

Employment candidates may embellish their employment tasks and positions, but tend to lie about their education. Yes, you have read right – that person interviewing with your Human Resource Manger and other relevant executives, the one looking presentable and acting bright and articulate may well be inventing his/her education. In most cases your candidate’s claim to a higher education is not necessarily a total invention. He/she may have in fact actually enrolled in the university listed on the resume and he/she just didn’t graduate from that school, or any other school, for that matter. More news in learning are expected to occur

Petar Atanasov
Petar Atanasov An interview with Prof. Petar Atanasov, PhD Coordinator at the Postgraduate studies-New Media and social networks, member of the Centers for inter-ethnic relations, culture, media and communications, ISPPI, UKIM, Skopje, Macedonia, Professor of Sociology and Communication 1. What is your opinion on the development of the online education globally? It is a fantastic process. Not quite sure what you literally mean when you say online, but every part fits into the learning technology and in the globalization conditions. As the world is getting digitalized, this type or manner of learning will be more present. Since the online learning is a part of one general process of online living, it can not be separated from it. To illustrate the trend, larger universities in the Western countries are issuing distance learning diplomas. In future the services will be more diverse and the online education will grow. In addition to this, the expenses for studying will be overall lower on all educational grounds. 2. Are you of an opinion that the online education will dominate in the next 10 years in the developed countries in the world? No, the standard and the traditional institutions will still prevail, as they are already established, structured, both administratively and financially perplexed. However, the online life and the education will grow, together with the other spheres where there will be more electronic and digital presence. The traditional education system will still be the dominant one, al least in the next 10 years. If the same entities create this online learning on behalf of these same universities, then the learning will also grow. A diversification of the services and in the education is expected to occur in the market. Just one example, how come General Motors does not sell management education at this very moment?, and other similar cases. Changes will occur in these areas. 3.If you would have to choose between a traditional and an online class, with all characteristics of top quality of settings fitted to the students’ needs, what will be your choice? Of course, the traditional class is still a priority. I want a live contact, words said person to person. This is particularly important in the social sciences. The relation professor-student is irreplaceable. Other educational sciences differ – in the medical sciences a camera can be the tool, where as in the natural sciences figures are more utilized. There is no doubt that the combination of e-learning and the traditional studies, will maximize the success in gaining knowledge. In any case, the traditional class is irreplaceable in respect to the lectures on concepts and science. Just an illustration: a couple of weeks I participated at one digital e-conference in Slovakia (I was in Skopje). All presentations were on the web, there were comments, debates and an excellent communication, but without live world or contact. Another example-with my colleagues in London I communicate via Skype and debate on a particular project that I am involved in. A lot of news are occurring, there will be more to come.

Marriage becoming a difficult business!

Marriage becoming a difficult business! The world has never owned such opulence of womanly character, a splendor of womanly manners or multitudinous instances of wifely, motherly, daughterly, sisterly devotion, as it owns today. There are no words to express my admiration for good womanhood. Woman is not only man’s equal, but the affectionate and religious nature, which is the best part of us. As you may see, nowadays it is easier for a man to find an appropriate wife, than for a woman to find a good husband! According to a New York Times analysis of census results, in 2005, there were 51 percent of women who stated that they are living without a spouse, whereas in 2000 this figure was 49 percent in 1950 and 35 percent in 1950. There are multitudes of women, who have never been married and still greater multitude of them, who got married but change back to be single. Marriage has become a difficult burdening business, especially for women. Continue reading “Marriage becoming a difficult business!”

Continuing education for adults over 50

It is said that in recent years, the number of students aged 40 to 64 has been significantly growing. Specialists estimate that in the past decade, the number of older students has increased by 20 per cent. They are also of the opinion that lifelong studying will become more and more popular as many people in their fifties and beyond are increasingly interested in continuing education. But the questions that come to mind are: why do mature adults decide to enrol in online courses and what exactly are the merits of online education?

Why do people continue their education after 50?

People in their 50’s often decide to enrol in online courses for professional and personal reasons. Firstly, with increased financial pressures, many don’t have enough savings for retirement, and need to continue earning. Retired people also often want to boost their skillset, gain qualifications for a new job or use the skills and experience that they already have to start their own business. What is often interesting is that due to their knowledge and vast experience, they are often even more successful in running their own business than their younger counterparts! Many retirees also become freelancers or work for non-profit organisations. Secondly, some over 50’s want to follow a dream concerning their professional career that they used to have when they were younger. Lastly, after retirement, many people don’t want to sit idly at home, instead seeking out new activities in order to spend their free time in a more productive way. Some enrol in online courses to keep their minds active and others may feel isolated, deciding to continue their education to stay socially engaged. Like anyone, many older people find pleasure in learning or mastering new things. Remaining engaged in lifelong education keeps the mind alert and healthy, and has even been said to prolong life.

The advantages of online courses

Middle-aged adults appreciate online courses because the schedules are usually very flexible, with each person able to complete the course at their own pace. This, in turn, doesn’t interfere with other activities or a part-time job. Thanks to the internet, you can now attend a reputable college on the other side of the world! Moreover, on many online education platforms, courses are taught by well-known industry figures and professors, and students gain a certificate of completion or nationally recognized qualification after completing the course. All that’s needed is a computer with access to the internet. Thanks to the internet everyone – young and old – can find something for them. Nicole Davies works at ShortCourseFinder, a website providing a simple way to find and sign up for online short courses from Australia’s top providers. Main areas of her interest are the social media and the use of new technologies in everyday life.

Getting the most out of your online class discussion
Getting the most out of your online class discussion A report from the 2013 College Explorer found that online learning has jumped 96 percent over the last five years. Currently, about 45 percent of college students are taking at least one online course. Online courses can be just as challenging, if not more challenging, than traditional brick-and-mortar classes. With online, the professors are encouraged to give students the same experience they would get by attending an actual class. One way to help with this is by having online class discussions in each course. I took a few courses online a few years back. Class discussions were required – in fact, they were where you received the majority of your “points” for the class. Continue reading “Get the most out of your online class discussion”

What is good and what is bed education practice?

What is good and what is bed education practice? Online education is transitioning as time passes and more and more people are finding it a beneficial avenue to enhance and expand one’s education. This is because online education is more in tune with the needs of those who have other commitments such as jobs, homes and families. The ability to seek out and receive an online education at your convenience is truly what has prompted the surge in offerings and thus one who is exploring online options needs to understand how to best compare and vet all of those offerings out there so the right program is chosen from the start.

Review are key

One first and crucial step in better understanding whether an online educational program is right for you or not is to read about the thoughts and opinions others have in regards to the program itself. The best reviews are those located at independent sites, are unedited and have a first-hand look in to the program, classes and other criteria of the program itself. Though one needs to take both overtly good and bad experiences with a grain of salt, you will be able to get a good feel for how others view the program and thus help determine if the option is right for you.

Courses and classes that matter

A different way to access an online education outlet is to look through the offerings. This is crucial because if the program is one that is meant for you and you have very specific educational needs; you will want to ensure the classes and courses offered are those that will be beneficial to you in the long run. This means that if you are seeking to expand your education in the field of business and the one educational outlet you look at only offers classes in culinary arts; that would not be the right place for you and your educational needs.

Recognition and acceptance

Though more and more employers and even traditional educational institutions are becoming more accepting of online based and acquired education, hesitation still exists and thus you need to explore this stigma. You will want to narrow down your list of online options and then make a few calls or inquiries to employers and other colleges to ask their opinion about the programs you are considering. This manual and hand on approach truly can yield great information and potentially save you time and money when you get down to the heart of the matter and determine which offerings are considered good or bad by those whose opinions truly do matter. A little legwork and due diligence on your part can make a big difference when it comes to choosing the right program for your own personal and professional goals. Knowing the right online education to partake in is a fascinating journey; however, it is one that deserves time, attention and thought before proceeding so that you choose the right place and make sure it is one that is recognized, accepted, trusted and respected.
