5 common mistakes in data visualization and how to avoid them?

5 common mistakes in data visualization and how to avoid them?
5 common mistakes in data visualization and how to avoid them? When used correctly, data visualisation is an incredible tool which can help us understand complex data and statistics. With the visual aid, we are more likely able to process and remember all of the information. When data visualisation is done wrong, it can make the wrong statistics stand out – or even change the message of the data completely. Here are 5 common mistakes that you might be making with data visualisation, and how to avoid them going forward.
  • Putting pie charts together incorrectly

A pie chart seems like a pretty simple piece of data visualisation. The size of each slice of the pie is decided by the percentage of the data – there’s nothing more to it, right? Well, wrong. The way that you set out your pie chart actually has a big impact on whether it makes sense to the viewer or not. You should start with the largest chunk of the pie at the top, anchored at 12 o’clock on the circle and extending clockwise. The second largest slice should start from the same position and extend anti-clockwise. You can then add in the smaller segments. The other option for a format is just to go clockwise from the top, smallest to largest. Where possible, try to limit your pie to 5 segments. If there are more segments to represent, try a different type of graph. It’s harder to process the smaller segments when there are more of them, and it’s also tough to see just how large the majority is. When a slice of the data is less than 1% there’s just no way to show it fairly in the pie chart.
  • Dashed and dotted lines

Don’t include non-solid lines in your charts. They are distracting and can be misleading. Particularly where the gaps in the line fall, it can be tough to figure out the figures – and even more so if those gaps fall at a kink in the line. Instead, distinguish the lines using different colours which are far enough apart to be seen easily.
  • Scaling incorrectly

Scaling is a hard thing to work out correctly, but if you do it wrong, you could end up giving misleading data. For example, imagine that you are using a circle as a representation. When you double the size of the data for the next circle, you will also want to double the size of the circle. A common mistake here is to scale the circle by diameter – making it dwarf the other circle. However, when you scale by area, you will get a much more accurate representation.
  • Using colours on a heat map

On a heat map, putting bright colours in together will give a confusing message. Some will stand out more than others in a way that may not be representative of the data. Instead, choose one colour, and use different hues for the different data points.
  • 3D Charts

3D bar charts look exciting. That’s a given. But what they also do is to skew perspective. Stick to simple 2D shapes, as these are easiest for the brain to digest. This will help the data to speak for itself, instead of giving out the wrong message. Don’t sacrifice readability for a flashy design. Keep this in mind with other design quirks, too. Presenting data in graphs and charts should be done in the simplest and most intuitive way possible. When you stray away from that, you are likely to end up with the mistakes listed here – and more besides.

Keeping your employees committed and happy

Keeping your employees committed and happy Engaging employees is vital for any business, big or small. When your employees are committed, they deliver exception performance levels, thrusting your company forward and ahead.   Unfortunately, in today’s era, a large majority of your employees are mostly interested in getting money in their bank accounts, and not bringing anything to the table. The reasons can be enormous: maybe they don’t like the work, their boss, believe they get a lower salary package or think that their hard work is not rewarded appropriately. How does all this affect you as an employer? Dissatisfied employees cannot contribute to team efforts and cause stagnation, which can destroy your company from the inside. Thus, you should bring about some employment innovations that engage your team, making them more determined to play their part.

Give them what they want

One of the best employee motivation strategies is to give them what they want. Yes, you may already be providing them with all necessary training, tools and support they need from their managers. But many times, this fails to be enough. Talk to your employees, figure out their interests, and assign them to projects they like. All along be clear of what you expect from them. Some of your employees may ask for non-work related things such as flexible timings or additional leave. If you can meet their needs, they will be more eager to work for you.

Award them recognition points or monetary incentives

If a team member puts in extra efforts or achieves a difficult goal in a short amount of time, you can award them some recognition points. When your employees have collected enough of these, let them trade the points for custom merchandise such as books, diaries, bespoke drink bottles, laptop bags and the like. You can also offer more valuable products like a tablet, phone or home appliance for employees who accumulate a huge number of points. In addition to recognition points, you can also add some monetary incentives if they meet specific goals.

Define a career path for them

Your employees are more engaged when they know their efforts today can turn into something big tomorrow. Let your employees know how they are contributing to your business and can grow in their current position.

Make them see the vision

If an employee knows they are making a worthwhile contribution, they are more likely to do well. You may have already shared your company’s vision with them, but your employees also need to know how their particular duties align with the overall purposes of the business. When they can understand why they do what they do, they can engage more collaboratively and work better as a team

Be transparent

Be transparent with your employees, and build trust. Do what you say, and say what you do.

Add some fun to the workplace

How often do you have corporate lunches, dinners and outings? Make workplace fun, and hold an event once in a quarter or so. When you employees are happy, they are more energised and can deliver better.

Why should you choose digital marketing as a career?

Why should you choose digital marketing as a career?Ten years ago, digital marketing as a career didn’t even exist. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular career options amongst not just millennials, but also experienced professionals from the traditional marketing field. The world is going digital and almost every business, whether big or small, is using the Internet to its advantage. Rather, we can say that the Internet has given even small businesses a platform to compete against their big rivals, fearlessly. Digital marketing has made it possible for small businesses to reach out to their audiences with a greater impact at minimal cost resulting in increased profits. With initiatives likes Internet.org aiming to increase the internet penetration in the rural areas of the world, the trend is only going to get more popular. Marketing is one of the most crucial functions of every business. Of course, the product is important. However, for the product to sell, it is important that the end customers are informed about its qualities and USPs. Like we said earlier also, digital marketing is the modern-day tool being used by almost every business regardless of their size and industry. Why? It is a pocket-friendly and effective way of reaching out to a large number of audiences. Not just businesses, even political leaders are using digital marketing to drive their political campaigns. Therefore, the scope is vast.

Employment prospects are tremendous:

The field is still very new. With more and more businesses adopting this new-age marketing tool, there is a rise in the talent gap. This means the employment opportunities available are more as compared to the number of people required to fill the position, making it easy for digital marketing professionals to find jobs easily. Also, when the supply is less and the demand is more, the pay for the digital marketers is more likely to be good.

Specific education isn’t required:

The best thing about digital marketing is that if one wishes to make a career in the field, one doesn’t need any formal education or start of a career from scratch. Your qualification doesn’t matter. In addition to this, the skills you learn are transferable and apply to any industry. This means that even if the product changes, the skills and technology will remain the same.

There’s flexibility:

A career in digital marketing can offer you great flexibility in terms of work environment. More than the place from where you work, what’s important is how quickly you respond to the customers. You can choose to work from anywhere provided you have a strong Internet connection. Hence, more and more people who do not want to relocate are now opting to work remotely. If you wish to be a part of a young and dynamic industry that pays well, offers flexibility and scope for career advancement, digital marketing is where you should be. 5 Tips for Oracle certification exam

5 Tips for Oracle certification exam
5 Tips for Oracle certification exam Oracle offers several non-proctored exams online, which provides an easier way to become an Oracle certified associate. However, certification is not awarded merely on the basis of clearing an online exam. To complete certification, you need to pair an online exam with a proctored exam. Here are 5 tips to help you to prepare for proctored or non-proctored Oracle Certification exams and pass them successfully:
  • Study exam details and exam topics at the Oracle Education website:

Take note of exam details like the number of questions, duration of the exam, and the passing grades. Depending on the test you are taking, calculate the time per question. Every question carries equal marks, so you can determine the number of questions to be attempted to clear the exam. While checking Java programming course exam topics, verify whether they match the test you are appearing for. If satisfied, copy the topics and save them in a file on your laptop. This list of topics forms your checklist that you need to mark off before you schedule an exam.
  • Search for relevant documentation:

You can start searching Google for documents like oracle 11.2 Documentation. Download the PDF of exam manuals or mark the HTML copies. The manuals have Mobi or ePub texts that you can copy and read later. In addition, Oracle has generated several ‘2 Day’ documents. For every exam topic, there is 2-Day file related to the exam. You can read the 2-Day document as it is a practical way to start preparing.
  • Make notes:

Making notes has always been a useful way of studying. Jot down main facts, factors, instructions etc. This method of writing down will help you memorise the details. Moreover, once you complete your research, these notes will be useful for revising everything you learnt.
  • Mark questions when unsure:

While answering questions, if you stumble upon one you can’t answer, then mark the question and tick any option randomly. Go to the next question immediately as you can’t waste time worrying about it. An unanswered question will always be marked wrong but, answering it anyways will keep your chances of getting a mark alive. When you complete the test, compare the number of marked questions.  If your marked questions are lesser than the number of questions needed to clear the exam, you would probably pass the Java programming course test.
  • Revise in the remaining time:

Make the most of the remaining time by investing it in revision. Go back to the marked questions and see if you can answer them with correctness. Even if you are still uncertain about the answer, having a second look may let you gather some new points. En route to becoming an Oracle certified associate, these tips will come handy while preparing for the test. Reach the testing centre before your scheduled time and go through the notes before the exam. This will ensure you have enough information stored in your in temporary memory to make a successful attempt at the Oracle certification exam. Author: Priya Jatoliya

The difference between electrical and electronic equipment

electronic equpment
electronic equpment Electrical and electronic equipment may sound similar, but they’re very different. Their main difference lies in the way they manipulate electricity to perform their work. Electrical equipment takes the energy produced by an electrical current and then transforms it into other simple forms of energy like heat, light or motion. For instance, a toaster contains heating elements that transform electrical energy into heat that burns your toast. Electronic devices are much more complex than that. Apart from converting electrical energy into heat, motion or light, they can manipulate or control electrical current so that devices can do more useful or interesting things. For instance, an audio device like a radio that adds sound to electric currents, enabling you to listen to music. Examples of electrical equipment: -Light bulbs -Vacuums -Toasters -Electric ovens -Refrigerators and Freezers -Washing machines -Motors -Transformers and Generators -Resistors and Capacitors -Older technologies like the electric telegraph and batteries Examples of electronics equipment: -PCs/Laptops -Mobile phones -Cameras -Printers -Modems -Radios -Game consoles -MP3 players -TVs -Microwave ovens

How do they work?

Electrical and electronic device circuits work in an entirely different way. Electronic equipment circuits don’t have any processing capability, while electronic equipment circuits do. Circuits in electrical devices simply power equipment with electricity. However, electronic circuits can easily interpret an instruction or signal and perform various tasks to suit the circumstance. For example, when a microwave finishes cooking, it often beeps to alert the user. Most modern appliances today use both electrical and electronic circuits. For example, a washing machine, which is an electrical equipment comprises of a plug socket, an on/off switch, a fuse, a heater and motor and control panel. An electronic circuit interprets the instructions that a user inputs in the control panel to define the desired temperature and wash circle.

Difference of scale

Another significant difference between electrical and electronic devices is in scale. The majority of electronic components are small and only require small direct current (DC) voltages. Electrical appliances, on the other hand, are mostly larger and use alternating current (AC) voltage. While most electrical appliances require 230 volts AC to operate, most electronic components can work using 3-12 volts DC. When you look at factories, industries or power stations, you will realise that they have far more electrical components. Products that we use every day in our homes and offices like laptops, desktop computers and mobile phones have many small electronic components than electrical components. In short, electrical devices use much higher voltage to generate their work as compared to electronics equipment.

Energy efficiency

Large electrical equipment and appliances like refrigerators and washing machines provide information to consumers about their electrical efficiency in their product details. In the USA, most electrical equipment is categorised by electrical efficiency, in the form of energy star ratings at any point of sale to ensure consumers get the most energy efficient solutions to help them reduce energy consumption. Most electronic devices provide little or no information on their electrical efficiency. To get details on energy efficiency, consumers either have to visit the manufacturer’s website or get details on websites that offer information on green consumer products. However, power consumption is specified in most electronic devices.

The distinction between the two is changing

Whether you’re an electrical expert buying used testing equipment or a consumer buying home appliances, the difference between electrical and electronic equipment has become less clear than it used to be. That’s because unlike years back when electrical devices were those that used electrical power but didn’t include electronic components like transistors and integrated circuits, today many of these devices come with electronic control components. Most modern electrical equipment like refrigerators and vacuum cleaners often have electronic components in them such as power regulators and temperature control components. While it’s important to know the difference between electrical and electronic equipment, technological advancements are making it harder to classify a single device or appliance as either electrical or electronic.

8 Benefits of using augmented reality in education

8 Benefits of Using Augmented Reality in Education!
8 Benefits of Using Augmented Reality in Education! There are many uses of Augments Reality (AR) in education. Once an educationist integrates augmented reality into their lectures, they’ll be able to seize their students’ undivided attention. Below is a list of all of AR’s benefits.
  1. Increased participation in classes

Everyone will want to participate. Through an Augment’s app, the students will be able to have access to models on their own devices. Once they are able to view the augmented models, they will be able to grasp a better understanding of what they are studying and will be conceptually sounder. It is also a fun way to push education and the students will be motivated to learn more.
  1. Less expense

Some educational materials and supplies are extremely expensive. The 3-D physical models, large and intricate illustrations, posters, and prototypes are all really very expensive. Most schools do not have enough funds to acquire all of the additional learning material. Sometimes, they get lost, stolen, misplaced and they also get worn down in the process. Once AR has been acquired and used, there is no need to spend money on the physical materials. Especially since students have access to the models from devices whenever they want – at home, the classroom or during study sessions.
  1. Increased memory

By simply scanning, any student can gain access to augmented models. For example, a part of human anatomy, historical monument or even an atom. Students can also have access to websites immediately from the app. This allows the experience to create a complete and wholesome learning cycle. This will allow the students to be able to maintain more information for longer periods of time.
  1. Nurture the learning process

By initiating AR into the educational curriculum, students will be more excited to learn. Since most students now are now born in the digitalised age, students will be more motivated and stimulated through Augmented Reality. They will want to dissect and learn new ideas and think more critically. This will allow the students to think more imaginatively and discover things about themselves that they didn’t know existed.
  1. Enriched ways of telling a story

Just think, by using Augmented Reality storytelling will become so powerful, that the student will be able to visualise the story and it will be brought to life. The impact of the whole idea will be far more and it will take storytelling to a whole new life. This will also increase the interaction of the students.
  1. Increased sensory development

If you can see something change in front of you and feel it at the same time, it will enhance your mental and physical dexterity. Hence, your sensory development will increase.  Augmented Reality provides content that you can interact with. You no longer are just a mere observer, but you are allowed to become a part of the program. This is taking education to a whole new level.
  1. Visiting the past, present, and future

Imagine being able to visit what had happened, to now, and what could possibly happen in the future? The student would be able to visit the past and apply theories to visit the possible future, and also in between stay focused on current events. This is a great way to learn history, old empires, historical battles, and people from around the world.
  1. Increased activity

Nowadays, kids have a habit of relying on technology for practically everything. This no longer has a sense of movement and has become really lazy. Fortunately for Augmented Reality, gone are the days for children to be constant couch potatoes. With enhanced learning AR has created an enhanced and an increased interactive way for students to get out of the house and play and learn at the same time. Thanks to smartphones and tablets, mobility has increased. Through AR, the whole educational experience is completely transformed.

How to improve your defensive driving skills in the snow?

How to improve your defensive driving skills in the snow?

How to improve your defensive driving skills in the snow?

Driving in the snow is risky business. Studies have shown that winter is the worst time of year for automobile related injuries and accidents. Defensive driving can keep you safer in the snow if you pay attention. Here are seven tips that will help you reach your destination unharmed.

Come prepared

Make sure to travel with your cellphone, a blanket, a shovel, and an ice scraper. Inspect your car before hitting the road to ensure it’s stocked with wiper fluid and antifreeze. It’s also a good idea to let your vehicle warm up a little before driving.

Snow tires

Snow tires have a tread design specifically tailored for hostile winter conditions. Installing winter tires will give you lots of traction on snow and ice, and will also extend the life of your warm weather tires.

Four wheel drive

If possible, drive a vehicle equipped with Four Wheel Drive. According to a Portland car accident attorney, this won’t help you brake any faster, but it will give you more acceleration power if you get stuck in the snow.

Snow chains

In particularly nasty weather, you may need to fashion your tires with snow chains. This means you’ll need to make sure you have the right size chains, and that you have plenty of practice putting them on.

Test the road

Add pressure to the gas until your wheels start to spin, paying close attention to how much you can accelerate before your tires lose control. Now step on your brakes and see how much pressure you can apply before your vehicle begins to skid. Do these tests slowly and carefully.

Follow the leader

If there is a vehicle driving in front of you, use it to your advantage by following in its tire tracks. This will give you more traction. It’s important to remember to allow the vehicle in front of you plenty of space, just in case it needs to stop suddenly.

Drive with caution

Never yank the wheel back and forth in a panic, as this will only make things worse. Stick to your safe speeds, and don’t over-rely on snow tires and chains. You should not be speeding for any reason in snowy weather. Be courteous to your fellow snow drivers, as they are in the same uncomfortable position as you. While defensive driving skills will improve your odds considerably, sometimes accidents are inevitable. If you find yourself in a fender bender with another motorist, exchange insurance information and get on the phone with your lawyer. You can also check Winter drive for more online courses.

What are Governments of the World doing to increase literacy?

What are Governments of the World doing to increase literacy?

What are Governments of the World doing to increase literacy?

Depending on where you live, you may take your ability to read for granted. In the United States, 14 percent of adults cannot read at a basic level. This includes 19 percent of high school graduates. It seems like a small percentage until you realize this means there are 32 million illiterate adults in the United States. Worldwide, there are 775 million people who are illiterate. For a variety of reasons, 66 percent of them are women. The literacy rates are lower in poorer countries with smaller governments. South Sudan has the worst illiteracy rate at 73 percent. However, many of these countries are taking steps to increase their literacy rates. Most countries and governments realize how essential literacy is to economic and social success in an increasingly globalized world. Here are just some of the ways countries are attempting to combat adult illiteracy and encourage more reading in the world today.

Increased access to elementary education

In many nations around the world, young children do not have access to elementary education. It is either not provided by the state, or the student is not able to take advantage of it due to the necessity to work. It is also possible that they lack transportation. Many different countries have launched programs to ensure better access to elementary education and transportation among their poor and rural populations. The benefits to this are obvious, since the best way to ensure an adult is not illiterate is to teach literacy while they are a child. This means that funds and infrastructure must be improved in order to remove roadblocks to this kind of early education.

Local reading initiatives

Ras al-Khaimah is one of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates. Recently, Sheik Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi launched a reading initiative sponsored by the police and local government. The goal of the initiative is to encourage reading and cultural advancement across the entire community with the encouragement of the police department. People were encouraged to read books about other cultures and peoples. This not only encourages literacy, but also encourages people to broaden their education and minds. These types of initiatives are becoming more common in many countries.

Joining international efforts

UNESCO’s Dakar location supports the Education for All Acceleration Initiative. This initiative is a group joined by several African nations to combat adult illiteracy. The national governments in Niger and Senegal have submitted plans to eradicate illiteracy by 2023. Africa is the only continent where more than half of adults cannot help their children with their homework due to illiteracy. Non-formal education is the key to improving literacy among adults who in many cases are not able to attend full time education. There are now several other nations that have joined the initiative. The initiative and UNESCO provide guidelines and support to assist these nations in developing education infrastructure and using finances effectively. The nations are encouraged to make a big push to educate as many of their adults as possible by setting goals for various years.

Working with non-profits

The India Literacy Project is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that works with the Indian government. Their goal is no less than a 100 percent literacy rate in the world’s most populous country. The current adult literacy rate in India is 74 percent. The Indian Literacy Project works in over 1,200 villages and has benefited over 300,000 people. They are certainly not the only group working on literacy, but are a good example of how a volunteer organization can make a difference alongside of the national government. Each of these methods contributes to an overall strategy of combatting illiteracy and improving the lives of the people in their nations. In future it will be interesting to see how these statistics change on a global scale.

What to expect when you are studying overseas?

What to expect when studying overseas Traveling overseas to obtain an education is a bold move that requires careful research and understanding on your part as a student.   Take time to plan and get to know your new home. Expect to experience culture shock, difficulty getting items that are familiar to you, and a different manner of thinking to your own country. Here are some other things to expect during every phase of your overseas education.

Upon entering the country

When you first arrive, you’re likely going to be optimistic about your new school and surroundings. Since everything will be new to you, it’s an exciting time, and people generally have a feeling of exhilaration during the first few weeks. At first, you may marvel at some of the conveniences your own country may lack, and the differences you never expected. The best advice is to enjoy the honeymoon phase and get to know as many of your schoolmates as possible.

Settling in

Once the honeymoon phase is over, you will start to notice things about the new country you won’t like. No place is perfect, and you’ll likely go back and forth between enjoying your new home, and reminiscing about home. During this time, it’s helpful to realize these emotions are normal and are not a reason to leave your program. Stay focused on your schoolwork and engage in extra-curricular activities to help maintain a high level of motivation.

Adjusting to daily life

As you begin to get into a routine and adjust to daily life, it’s important to realize there are resources available at every school to help you. Many campuses offer free legal advice for dealing with landlords, and ensuring your rights aren’t violated. Learn where the international services building is located, and take advantage of anything available to you as a student or newcomer.

Preparing to graduate

In your last year, you should begin to look at potential employment options. As an international student, you have to plan carefully. When you graduate, your student visa won’t allow you to stay in the country for an extended period of time. The last year is the time for you to decide if you want to stay in the country, or go back to your own and look for work. If you receive an offer of employment before graduating, you can get a working visa to stay in the country. Talk to an immigration lawyer in Los Angeles like Joshua L. Goldstein for advice on how to immigrate and change your visa. Going to a new country for your education is an exciting and rewarding time for any student. Use the resources available to you to get to know your new home and how you can better adjust to it.

Understanding Extended Oracle RAC across sites with VMware NSX

Understanding Extended Oracle RAC across sites with VMware NSX       If you’re relatively new to network virtualization and the initialization of utilising software-defined data centres for businesses, then the idea of training for Oracle database function across an NSX-based network will require some thinking. NSX’s manufacturers, the Dell subsidiary VMware, recently announced on their very own blog that they’ve begun showcasing the ability to stretch an Oracle RAC between multi-datacenter networks, through NSX, for layer 2 adjacency. This is exciting news for networks that utilise the Oracle 9i database product’s real application cluster function to allow a database to be installed across multiple servers. Companies do this for scalability, lower costs as several low-end servers can do what high-end server can do at a higher price, and greater safety as a single server failing won’t mean the end of the database. But, before we can discuss why RAC certification through a reputed company like Koenig Solutions is important for businesses with large customer databases and a general wealth of data, you need to understand the importance of network virtualization, software-defined data centres and NSX especially.

What is NSX?

NSX is VMware’s software solution for companies looking to implement a quality network virtualization software into their networking. Just like server virtualization before it, network virtualization allows companies to expand the capabilities and capacity of their network without increasing their cost by driving cost down through the use of several data centres and the cloud to manage the operation of a network rather than on-site infrastructure. NSX also allows companies to execute micro-segmentation in their networks, which means they can continue operating on a network seamlessly while actually segmenting their network onto several different virtual machines in a data centre to allow for better security measures. Security is paramount in building and managing a network – due to the sheer amount of shared data present on a network, any intrusion can compromise the rest of the network unless proper measures are in place to stop such security infringements. There is a lot of interest in pushing for network virtualization among bigger companies and IT specialising smaller companies alike. The ability to host complex network functions without the need for a lot of hardware makes network virtualization that much more of a potential solution for smaller businesses that can’t afford the infrastructure required for typical in-house networking.

What is an RAC?

Another important concept when understanding the importance of integration between the Oracle database and VMware’s NSX software, is the utilisation of Oracle 9i’s RAC and extended Oracle RAC functionality. RAC stands for Real Application Cluster as per TechTarget, specifically allowing every server access to the entire database rather than the usual approach of database clustering, which involves segmenting a database across multiple servers. The benefits here are a lack of loss in data when one server goes down, also known as failover capacity as per the TT website. With these tools, a business can propel itself to new levels of network efficiency, especially among businesses with a multinational clientele – and that’s where training helps tremendously in helping such companies achieve their goals.

4 Reasons why your employee training is not getting you results… and what to do about it

4 Reasons why your employee training is not getting you results… and what to do about it
4 Reasons why your employee training is not getting you results… and what to do about it   Training your employees isn’t cheap. Some training providers I know can make hundreds, or even thousands, from an afternoon’s work. No wonder most organisations’ training budgets creep up each year, not down. Not to mention that training also takes your employees away from their duties for hours, or even longer, which means the most immediate effect of training is a loss of productivity! With this in mind, employee training had better deliver some seriously useful results. But, does it? Unfortunately, in all too many cases, employee training just doesn’t work. So, if yours is not doing the job, you aren’t alone. But when you know the most common reasons why employee training flops, you can put things right and start getting the value your business needs. Here are some of the most frequent issues:

1. There’s no training strategy

Do you organise your training ad-hoc, to deal with skills gaps as you spot them? Do you base your plans on training provider scare stories, like “Your company is at risk without this course”? Or simply follow the latest trends, like e-learning, because they sound like a nice idea at the time? If so, then it’s difficult to know if your training is working or not – because no goal has been set for the training to achieve. Many companies commit themselves to long-term staff training – even to becoming a ‘learning organisation’ – because they believe (rightly) that it can improve performance. But, you need to have the right learning. And you can only choose the right learning if you have a plan in place. Otherwise, you are simply training for the sake of it. The outcomes might be of no use to your business whatsoever!

Start planning for success

It’s less daunting than you think to create a staff training plan. Simply:
  1. Write down your company’s 3 most important goals. One example could be to increase your sales by 50%.
  2. Identify the skills your staff needs to achieve each goal. For the example above, these could be learning new sales skills, or increasing product knowledge.
  3. Plan a training schedule for the coming year that develops the skills your employees need.
Pretty simple, right? Best of all, you will know if your training is working – because you’ll be closer to your company goals.

2. You’re using the wrong trainers

There are many highly professional trainers around who just aren’t capable of teaching your staff the right skills. They know how to tick all the right boxes to get fancy certificates for your delegates, and they might even be entertaining speakers. The problem is, they don’t have any hands-on experience. They’ve never succeeded in the field you are trying to succeed in, so they don’t possess the skills they’re trying to teach. They can’t inspire your people. All they can really do is sell you a pile of diplomas.

Try new trainers and methods

It doesn’t have to be that way. Make some calls. Talk to as many trainers as possible about their real-world experience and methods, and see who has the most to offer. When arranging your training, make sure to always opt for quality by choosing a training provider that is well established, quality assured, and flexible. It’s also a good idea to choose the best trainer for each session, rather than being locked into one provider. This gives your programme a wider variety of methods and trainers, catering for more of your employees’ individual learning styles.

3. Your training sessions are too long

Have you ever been on a day-long training course that almost sent you to sleep? Chances are, there’s been more than one. The problems with long training sessions are numerous. They tend to involve a lot of listening or reading for your staff, which becomes boring after a while. There’s also usually a big lunch, which can make delegates tired in the afternoon. The biggest issue, though, is that it’s difficult to retain so much learning in a single session. So, your employees might only remember a few nuggets from their expensive day’s training.

Train in short bursts

Of course, we all know why the full-day training session is so common. It’s just more convenient for you and the trainer. You can break training up into smaller, more memorable chunks. But then, things get more difficult to organise. The best answer is to plan training days made up of short sessions, each of which involves a different learning style – such as group work, hands-on training, or e-learning. This can help your employees stay fresh and focused throughout the day.

4. Training isn’t being followed up

If you’ve ever learned a few Italian, French or Spanish phrases while on holiday, you’ll know that knowledge rarely sticks after you’ve stopped using it. The same goes for training. Even if you have a great training strategy in place, and the skills your employees train in are actually useful, they won’t necessarily use them once back at the workplace. A good example is IT training. In modern computing, there are quicker ways to do most things – and training your staff how to speed up their spread sheets (for example) is a brilliant way to increase productivity. But, employees are often stuck in their ways – or they may simply forget what they learn in training, before they have a chance to use it. That’s why follow-up exercises are vital for reinforcing important skills training. It’s also a great way to measure success. If your staff don’t retain knowledge after training, it might be time to try new methods.

Reinforce and evaluate staff training

A great follow-up exercise is to have your delegates come together at work, after training, and practice what they’ve learned together. They can remind each other about things they’ve forgotten and reinforce their new skills. Meanwhile, you or a line manager can evaluate the effectiveness of the training itself and encourage staff to keep using it. As I said earlier, employee training isn’t cheap. But, when you stop making mistakes, training can add huge value to your business. What do all of our reasons for training failure have in common? They prove you can’t trust your success to external (or even internal) trainers. It’s up to you to make sure your training is right for your company’s goals, delivered will, and put to good use by your employees. Author: Sam Carr, Activia.co.uk

Resolving stereotypes regarding online education

Resolving Stereotypes Regarding Online Education Acceptance of online education and degree for a common man is still like a question mark. Many people believe that those who are not eligible for admission in any good traditional university or college usually go for online education but it’s not right at all because performance graph of online degree holders shows that they are equally good as a normal student. There are a lot of myths or rumors regarding online degree system and students. Before claiming anything people should look at the dropout rates of students at colleges around the world and the reasons. For so many such students online education is a good option as they can manage their studies along with their life activities. Here are some facts to dissolve the stereotypes regarding online education so that students can feel comfortable while considering online degree option. Online Education is Easier than Regular College Classes The course structure of online degrees is designed under supervisions of highly educated and experienced personals who experience regular college as well. The course plans are arranged to fulfill the international standards of any specific degree. To get an online degree it is mandatory to finish your homework and the assignments in a mentioned time to get scored on them. The criteria of markings are not lenient at all. In fact, the criteria of markings followed by most of the online degree programs are similar to those followed by regular colleges. Many of the online degree holders, when attempting any test for regular institutes or for any job actually perform very well. The ratio of qualifying and passing any job or test among online and regular degree holders is basically the same. So it’s totally a myth that it’s easier in any of the ways. The only advantage which can be considered is that you have the freedom to choose the timings for your classes. Online Education is Antisocial Most of the people who are unaware of the realities of an online educational system and believe that it is for shy or disruptive people. Most people argue with online students that such courses promote an antisocial and home confining lifestyle. Some also say that online students are shy of life outside the comforts of their homes and maybe that’s why they select such an educational system. But what I want to ask is, how come an online world be called antisocial? There is one on one communication going on between teacher and students. Also, groups of students are linked together through discussion and debate forums. The communication circle of online students involves students not only from their country or city but from multiple countries and cities. Such experiences can teach students social and racial acceptance even more than a regular class. There are also some homework and assignments that involve market surveys, sometimes photography or interviews. Online learners are found more interactive because they are holding an experience of online conferencing. There are a number of websites that allow online students to communicate and share their learning with others. You can also participate in competitions offered online. So the idea that online education system is antisocial is not true at all. Less Considered by Recruiters Hiring panels are more interested in an individual`s skills rather than the type or source of applicant's degree. But the fact is that 87% of hiring panels believe that online degrees have equal respect as traditional degrees. 60% disagree that they mark any differential division between online or traditional degree statuses. Whereas 82% of recruiters believe that online education is not easy at all. For jobs that involve online communication and conferencing usually done online, degree holders perform better. Also, online job interviews and Skype meetings are on fingertips of online students. Poor Time Management Skills Due to no fixed timing of classes and facility to alter the timings of lectures people think that online learners cannot manage time as they are too lazy to go and attend classes at any fixed time. Actually, people need to look at the usual routines of traditional college students. Most of the students are lazy to get up from bed for their classes, and a great number of students bunk classes because they feel sleepy or bored during any particular subject or class. Annually at colleges, a number of students are not allowed to sit for exams due to short attendance, some students face penalties or fines due to the habit of coming late to class. In fact, some students even arrive at an examination hall 15 to 20 minutes late. Now take a look at the statistics to resolve the myth, which says that 55% of traditional college students are found to be just lazy as they skip classes because they could not get out of bed. Basically, it’s not a claim to say that traditional degree students are lazy, it’s a fact that usually the lifestyle of all youngsters have a mess like this and it’s not a big issue. You cannot claim that they have poor time management skills or it's just a habit for a limited time or age. Actually, 70% of human resources authorities disagree with the idea that traditional degree holders have better time management skills. Online degree holders possess an average 74% of management skills. Online students are also reliable freelancers as they understand the value of commitments even when the client cannot make a claim. So, it’s totally a myth that it’s easier in any of the ways. The only advantage which can be considered is that you have the freedom to choose the timings for your classes.

Online education is antisocial

Most of the people who are unaware of the realities of an online educational system and believe that it is for shy or disruptive people. The communication circle of online students involves students not only from their country or city, but from multiple countries and cities. So, the idea that online education system is antisocial is not true at all.

Less considered by recruiters

Hiring panels are more interested in an individual`s skills rather than the type or source of applicant’s degree. But, the fact is that 87% of hiring panels believe that online degrees have equal respect as traditional degrees.

Poor time management skills

Due to no fixed timing of classes and facility to alter the timings of lectures people think that online learners cannot manage time, as they are too lazy to go and attend classes at any fixed time. You cannot claim that they have poor time management skills or it’s just a habit for a limited time or age. Actually, 70% of human resources authorities disagree with the idea that traditional degree holders have better time management skills. Online degree holders possess an average 74% of management skills. Online students are also reliable freelancers as they understand the value of commitments even when the client cannot make a claim.   Author’s bio: Rachelle is an academic consultant at a community college in specializes in helping students with their academic problems, college stress and such. How to get your bachelor’s degree faster?

How to get your bachelor's degree faster?   After graduating from high school, most tend to enter the workforce immediately or make their way to a two or four-year college to receive their Bachelor’s degree. Some end up going to college for even longer to receive their Master’s or PhD. It really depends on the person in question and their preferences and goals. Most people are happy to receive a Bachelor’s in their preferred topic and industry, but even a Bachelor’s degree can be costly and take a lot of time to acquire. If you find yourself losing motivation to complete school, use some of these tips to make the time in school go faster. Plan your work Most students entering college take at least one class they do not require in order to graduate. Taking classes that are completely unrelated to your major can be a wonderful way to break up the monotony in your learning and expand your horizons. However, those looking to acquire their degree, as fast as possible should solely focus on classes required to receive a degree. Avoid any unrelated classes, as they will only bog down your time. Many students will write out an action plan or study plan to keep track of their target goals. Remain in contact with your academic advisor, as often as possible, to keep on track to graduation. Transfer credits If you have previously attended another college, do not let those transfer credits go unused. Many schools will accept your transfer equivalencies where applicable which can significantly reduce the cost of your degree and how long it takes to acquire it. Each school generally has an office or administration dedicated to handling transfer credits and requests. Utilize this service to see how much you can save when attending a new school. Some institutions like Chatfield College even offer a third-year option, where students who already have an associates, can transition to a bachelors program. Skip a minor Many students opt to acquire a minor along with their major. This can be useful in some cases, but most would advise you to skip the minor entirely to acquire your degree in the fastest way possible. Most people will not use their minor once they graduate, it just looks good at the time. Dropping your minor classes could save an entire semester of work. Unless your minor is critical to your field or would bring obvious benefits, avoid it. There are ways to increase the speed at which you acquire a degree. Some students do not pay attention to their options, or do not speak with their academic advisor nearly enough. Let them know your intentions beforehand and see places where you can save extra time and money.   Author: Brooke Chaplan

Skills to master this summer

Skills to master this summer
https://www.onlinecultus.com/skills-to-master-this-summer/ With summer upon us, it is time to shift those spring blues and get out there and have some fun. Summer is a time of sunshine for many of us and with sunshine comes happiness. So, while you are pondering around in your summer shorts with that iced cool soda in your hand, why not take a moment to think about what you could really achieve and learn this summer while still having enough time to enjoy the sunshine. If you are stuck for suggestions of what skill you could master this summer, check out these great ideas below:

Practical skills:

Martial Arts: Martial arts are a great form of discipline that involve keeping you fit and healthy while having fun and learning some valuable skills all at the same time. And, there are so many different styles to choose from, that will suit you. Some of the most popular forms of martial arts include Karate, Taekwondo, Judo and Kung Fu although there are many others. Take a few moments to check out what clubs are available in your area and get in touch with your inner ‘Mr. Miyagi’ this summer. Survival Training Course: These can be a great way to meet people and learn some invaluable life saving lessons along the way. Typical survival training courses are generally not for the faint hearted and can involve things like learning selfdefense techniques, navigational training, how to forage and prepare wild food for consumption and building your own shelter to crash out in at the end of the day. These courses can vary in how tough they are to complete so just ensure you know what you are getting yourself in for before you arrive!

Mental skills:

Master a foreign language: With so many different countries and cultures to explore, learning a new language is a fantastic way to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us. Whether it is in preparation for an upcoming trip, or just something you have always wanted to do, learning a new language can be great fun and there are so many ways in which it can be done. Ranging from local classes, to books, to videos, to games, there really is an option for everyone. Master touch typing: Touch typing is a very valuable skill to have these days and involves using a keyboard without using your sense of sight to do it. With almost everything being focused around computers these days it is important to be able to use a computer efficiently, and touch typing will certainly do that for you. There are plenty of courses available online that teach touch typing, as well as free tools (like typing speed test to test what level your current typing speed is). Something a little bit different: Master public speaking: It may not be everyone’s first choice of something to do this summer, but learning to speak with confidence in front of a crown is a valuable skill to have. Most people, at one time or another in their lives, will experience the world of public speaking. Some people are natural born speakers and they think nothing of have to stand in front of 100 people and give a mind blowing presentation without so much as breaking a sweat, but for the most of us it can be quite daunting. By learning public speaking skills you can remove some of the anxieties around it and may even learn to love it! Master Cheese making: If you see yourself as a bit of a Thomas Keller or Delia Smith you may feel like putting your culinary skills to the test and try your hand in the art of cheesemaking. There are many classes out there that offer cheese making tuition that will teach you the basics. Some classes will go through the different types of cheese and the history behind them before moving on to let you see how they are produced. Some of the more specialised classes involve making the cheeses yourself, but you will need to check the details for each course. Master juggling: Although many people automatically think of clowns and the circus when juggling is mentioned, it is actually a very skilled act that not everyone is able to do naturally, hence why there are classes available to help. To be a successful juggler one needs to have good hand eye coordination and a lot of patience. Other than that it is just practice, practice, practice. Juggling has become more popular over the years, so classes are not as uncommon as they once were. But if you can’t find a good class nearby, then just jump on the internet, find a few videos, and away you go!   Author: My name is Adam Fort, I’m an education strategist at Ratatype.com. This project helps children and adults to learn touch typing via an online typing test and lessons. I am in charge of developing the proper typing lessons and exercise for typists who want to improve their typing speed. I also have a commercial pilot’s licence which I’m proud of.

Is traditional learning losing its monopoly?

Is traditional learning losing its monopoly?
Is traditional learning losing its monopoly?
Is online learning changing the framework of the entire educational system by arming students with further voice and choice?
This is perhaps the most relevant question one might come across while contemplating learners’ dependence on this relatively new form of learning.
5,828,826! Wonder what this number could mean?
Well, this is the startling figure of the number of students who participated in at least one online learning course, alone in the USA last year.
Now try to picture the possible scenario of the popularity of online learning globally.
Several articles regarding online learning can be easily found if you start searching the web in more details. Less is discussed on the real facts behind the increasing popularity of online  learning.

Online learning

Online learning, etymologically speaking, is coined to illustrate a broader idea of education, unified with modern technology, which comprehensively includes all earlier mode of tech-supported  learning, ranging from distance learning, learning show to video conferencing. Since its introduction, online learning is classified as a technology-infused upgraded version of traditional learning – serving the purpose of providing active learning to the learners.
In two ways, you can single out online learning from traditional learning. First one – the ways these two modes of learning rely on to cater knowledge and the other, the knowledge that these two ways of learning are capable of imparting.
https://www.onlinecultus.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=WordfenceWhois
The educational framework has changed dramatically ever since learning started suffusing with technology. The open resources on Internet, big data, augmented reality, and several other e-learning trends is making learning available to all. Students are virtually experiencing a collaborative learning during their studies, with numerous inspiring students from every corner of the world. This is the magnanimity of online distance learning that benefits the online learners.
No more ‘another brick in the wall’.
Ever felt like you’re being alienated from the rest of your class?
A little less than 45 percent of adult students in the United States, as stated in a survey, are believed to be shy and classified as non-participating students.
This reminds me of my collage days when the words ‘class participation’ used to make my heart skip a beat. I never raised my hand in my college, ever, not even if I know the answer. Online learning allows students with typically reserved nature or who are comfortable with writing to express themselves rather than speaking in front of the whole class to communicate. Educators supporting online education are introducing online discussion boards in which students can virtually raise their hands even in an anonymous manner to participate in their digital classrooms. This attribute of e-learning is driving the students to engage in their studies.

Learning or knowing?

Traditional institute backs up a kind of learning that prioritizes knowing over understanding. And knowing without understanding results in depending on memorizing and eventually forgetting what you were taught (I can hear you mumbling “Are you kidding me!”).
Well, you have your reasons to be cynical. But would you mind giving an answer to a fifth grade science question?
Which one of these is not a simple machine – Pulley, Screw, Hammer and Wedge?
If you think traditional educational system is apt enough to pass on the knowledge that we require then how come 77 percent of people got this question wrong?
Admit it, we are brought up in an environment where the ecosystem of learning fails to serve its purpose. It stuffed with our head with data, not knowledge.
But today’s students are environed with a different educational ecosystem. They are ‘digital natives’. Focused, adapted, willing to learn from anything they managed to get hold of. The credit, certainly, goes to online learning.

Alternative or essential?

In this decade and the next, as the educators are conceptualizing it, online learning is going to discard its ‘alternative’ status and become an ‘essential’ part of a global educational system. Online education vouches for ‘active learning’, a learning that helps student upgrading their career.
Traditional learning, in a sense, is for improving your GPA. You read, try to memorize, take exams, forget after a couple of months and you repeat!
This, in a nutshell, is what you can get from face-to-face learning. But, ironically enough, degrees earned from traditional learning institutes are of no use because they fail to land you a job you deserve, mostly because employers across the sectors prefer applicants with hands-on experience rather than grades.
Economic growth of a nation is hinged on the quality education, and not by a long shot the GDP of a certain country will experience an upsurge if the collective GPA of students all of a sudden touches a higher level.
According to a survey carried out by OECD, the cost of tuition fees in the traditional institutes of England are climbing at a rapid pace.
And in the United States, according to National Center for Education Statistics, the cost of undergraduate tuition fees has dramatically increased by 34 percent over the last ten years.
In this scenario, online education is endorsing career-oriented learning and it costs significantly less than traditional study courses. So, evidently more and more students are opting for online leaning.
Here is the question:  Is traditional learning losing its monopoly?  – Yes, true to the core.

Online or traditional?

Undoubtedly online.
Simply, because it offers a tailored learning opportunity. A student could get a job in IT sector he desires to be in without having a technical background. All he has to do is participating in an online course on that specific domain.
A working person has an opportunity to improve its own skills without quitting the job. One can invest time and money and go back to college to obtain a degree.
A near retirement person once spent his entire youth tagging city walls with Graffiti art, now gets his chance to start his own clothing line after completing online fashion designing course.
Or if you need a much more persuasive evidence of the effect of online learning then try to zero in, on the fact that you have spent a good 10 minutes of your precious time and nearly came to the end of this article written by someone who once had no idea how to write an engaging blog post. You got it right! I just got lucky to enroll in an online course on effective academic and business writing.
I almost forgot! The answer was and will always be ‘hammer’, just wanted to let you know if you are still scratching the web for it.

Top college degrees in science today

Top college degrees in science today
Top college degrees in science today   Science degrees are always a popular choice for students in college. Having said this, I think that now is a better time than ever, to pursue an academic degree in one of many different fields offered online and on campus. New developments in the environment and in the world of business, have opened the doors to rewarding and lucrative new careers. One of the concerns of future college students (and their parents) is finding a discipline that they not only enjoy, but that will create long term employment prospects. Not only do some of the hottest jobs on the market require science-related skills, but these are the jobs that will be necessary and relevant for years to come. Because “science” covers such a broad area, and because some institutions of learning are more noted for particular offerings than others, what are the best science programs out there for your time and money?

Environmental science

As a fairly new discipline, the environmental science combines elements of physical and biological sciences, in order to study various environments helping making corrections within environments and public policy. Graduates in this field may do anything from practicing law, to acting as a consultant for a major corporation, working for a government to combat environmental woes, or teaching. Environmental scientists can expect salaries ranging from $61,000-$90,000 per year. However, before earning all that money, you’ll need to earn that degree. Community colleges offer environmental programs, four year studies and graduate program. Some of the United States’ best environmental science programs can be found at small liberal arts colleges. Pomona College in Claremont, California near Los Angles has what is considered to be the nation’s best environmental science program. Known as “Environmental Analysis”, this program offers students classes in community activism, environmental education, and urban agriculture. Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, offers two tracks within its programs. Its Environmental Science track, focuses on the physiology and chemistry of living things, while those majoring in Environmental Studies focus on a broader spectrum, including law and philosophy. The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) located in Syracuse, New York, offers classes with topics dealing with environmental challenges, and global needs for sustainable living.

Computer Science

Computer science has been around a lot longer than you might think, but like environmental science, it really hasn’t come into its own until the last few decades. Computer scientists deal with the development and practical applications of everything related to computers. Degree holders from this studies, have a wide range of career possibilities. NASA, the military, game designers, and the auto industry are among the few, where the employers are looking for computer scientists. Computer scientists can expect to earn between $57,000-$152,000 annually. Almost all institutions of higher learning, offer a computer science program, and the best in the United States are internationally ranked, as well. Leading on the America’s list are Carnegie-Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Stanford University in Stanford, California. Programs offered by these schools include programming, languages, artificial intelligence and physics and mathematics. I have mentioned just a couple of the possibilities offered when pursuing a degree and career in science. Students shouldn’t forget that many classes available online and through other methods of distance learning are great way of getting ahead. Many science degree holders of various types are applying their knowledge to business, as the makers of ASEA Science cellular regeneration products are doing. So, with so many options for pursuing a degree in science that will lead to an exciting career, potential students do not lack for possibilities in considering this field.   Author: Brooke Chaplan

5 Alternative teaching approaches

5 Alternative teaching approaches
5 Alternative teaching approaches There are so many schools today, and all of them use the same approaches when it comes to some important aspects of teaching. Some schools opt for alternative approaches which bring fantastic results. Here are 5 interesting teaching approaches private schools might want to switch to. Harkness Harkness is a teaching method which is not based on a specific curriculum, but rather on a large oval table. This approach was developed by Edward Harkness, an oil magnate and a philanthropist. What makes this approach special is that all of the students sit at the table together with their teacher and discuss a variety of topics. Every students can give his opinion on topic and then his opinion is discussed. Harkness approach offers an alternative to a traditional classroom setup where a teacher lectures in front of a blackboard while all the students are seated at their desks. Sudbury Sudbury approach gets its name from the Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, Massachusetts. This is a school that operates under tenets of democracy and individuality. Both of these principles have not appeared in other in other approaches. Sudbury approach encourages students to design a curriculum, as well as to choose whether they are going to be evaluated. Students get a vote in any important matters, such as how should the school invest money and whether hew staff should be hired. All other students and staff members get a vote which counts equally. Reggio Emilia Loris Malaguzzi developed this approach soon after World War 2 and named it after his hometown in Italy. It is an approach developed specifically for the children between the ages of 3 and 6. The approach is based on children being surrounded by self-guided learning environment. Malaguzzi claimed that we do not have to give children ready-made answers, but only guide them towards the right ones. In this approach, there is no curriculum and classrooms are designed to look and feel more like home. Art teachers also play an important role in Reggio Emilia approach as art is one of the things this approach focuses on. Steiner/Waldorf Austrian philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner developed this approach influenced by Goethe and Jean Piaget. The approach is based on the thesis that teaching should be focused on the “whole child”, meaning that teaching should concentrate on students’ body, soul, and spirit. His first Waldorf School was founded in 1919 in Stuttgart. The curriculum lasted 12 years and was aimed at preparing children for life. According to this approach, children should not be taught academic material until the age of 7. Before they reach this age, they should only be encouraged to interact with environment and socialize. In the last 20 years, the approach remained unchanged and is still being used. Montessori In the approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, teaching is based on the philosophy that children should be encouraged to learn in their own ways. Montessori approach encourages individuality and independence, meaning that teachers design the curriculum according to the students’ progress and previous knowledge. Classrooms in the schools that use this approach are “child-centric”. They are full of hands-on material that can help children to acquire new information. Students are encouraged to interact with each other and to use their own pace when learning. More and more schools opt for the Montessori approach and they have been reporting positive results. All of these programs offer some alternative ways to pass knowledge to the children. It is up to schools to choose the one that will suit them best. Parents are advised to learn which approach is being used before signing their children up in a school and do some research on it.   Author: Diana Smith

Invest in your teachers

The education is the foundation of the nation. We have heard this so many time, but not really paid attention that much. Why does it matter? For one if you do not invest in the educators of the future generations, then the future might turn out to be as prosperous as one’s country might want. Further on, if you have teacher, who have attended the last training with the end of their studies, then we have serious concern for our children’s gaining of knowledge. Why is this the case? The education is vivid and life matter, that needs to be followed and constantly updated when having in mind the new media and technology trends. This is one of the reasons why the teachers of our children should have books that are of more recent date, this is why the latest in all fields of learning should be present in our children’s classes. Teachers’ workload and school financial pressures pose challenges for professional learning in schools, but if the country cannot afford to invest in the teachers, then it indirectly does not invest in its future development. If teachers do their best at helping learners towards the best possible outcomes, then they need to be equipped with the best accessible tools, skills and experience to do so, have the knowledge that they are valued and at the same time be respected enough. Why are traditional forms of professional development not working? How can we find a sustainable way to provide for teachers development while addressing the budget and time constraints schools have on them currently? If you want to “nail” your TOEFL exam prepare it online

If You Want To Nail Your TOEFL Exam - Prepare itOnline
If you want to The TOEFL is a standardised English language test to help foreign students realising their academic goals. The test itself is a tool that reinforces one’s desire to learn something in a foreign language which can sometimes represent a big obstacle because of a language barrier. For some, learning a new language is something they can struggle with all throughout their life. The test helps alleviating those doubts by preparing the student for a level of English they would meet once their education started. It is important that the student figures out where they stand from a language standpoint beforehand and if there are any problems they need to be resolved. This is logical; as they would not have enough time to progress with the language once the classes start. All in all, the TOEFL is a great help for not just the students, but the establishments as well, allowing them to focus on those who have the highest chance of successfully completing the courses based on their academic merits. The preparation process At one point the TOEFL was a strictly paper-based test where the students had to sit in and complete it within a certain amount of time. That second part hasn’t really changed, but it’s very rare to find paper-based tests these days. Some country and some establishment still do it, but the vast majority of the tests are filled out on a computer. That is the platform where the students receive all four major sections of their exam, listening, reading, speaking and writing. The online TOEFL preparation is a big part of the equation, one that should never be taken lightly. Which site to choose? There are dozens of TOEFL sites out there that promise to offer the students’ relevant test material and a similar online environment that’s supposed to simulate the real thing. There are quality sites that actually offer some version of a free online TOEFL practice test as well. The registration is relatively easy; the student usually needs to enter a username and a working e-mail address before starting out. Most sites offer a limited number of tries before charging something, usually a relatively small fee. Some sites worth that fee some do not. As often is the case, it is important to distinguish. The best way of getting some valuable information about those sites is visiting different TOEFL forums where the students share their experiences about online TOEFL preparation. Nothing can beat that valuable first-hand info because it reflects on the actual quality of those sites and the information they provide in their tests. A site with outdated tests will quickly develop a bad reputation and vice-versa. Nothing can beat first-hand experience and the best place to find that on the internet is a subject-specific forum. Interactive helps If possible, finding a site that does something differently, possibly in a more interactive manner can be key for some. Most people actually prefer to learn that way, even if they don’t realise it. Those methods are extremely effective because the subject can learn without actually feeling the weight of the process, something many struggle with. Usually when they know that we have to acquire certain knowledge within a limited time period, people struggle with putting in enough effort. Their attention slips away and they are left with a vast and probably dry material and very little time to learn it. With an interactive site that offers a quality free online TOEFL practice test, it can all be quite different. Use several sites for the different sections Remember, the TOEFL test itself incorporates four different task types that are called “sections”. Those four are listening, reading, speaking and writing. When searching for the relevant material, one has to realise that a site can offer valuable test samples for one of those while not really giving any relevant material on the others. Personal preference obviously plays a huge part in all that. One usually has to have a positive opinion about a method or material in order to be able to learn it effortlessly. If we don’t believe a material to be good, chances are that we won’t be able to learn it in a way that will help us out during the examination. Finding quality material of course is extremely important, but finding one that appeals to our perception can turn out to be just as valuable. Whichever one chooses, there are other steps Regardless of the selected site and material, one can take other measures in order to ensure ending up with the best score possible. One of those steps is trying to think in English. What may sound far-fetched at first, will actually start to make sense, as soon as the preparation starts. The truth is that we all think in our mother tongue unless we purposely challenge our brain to do it in a different language. In the case of the TOEFL, this language is the English language which is great for several reasons and with that we can hop onto the next examples. Music and movies There are no better ways to create an effortless learning process than taking advantage of our love towards movies and music. Most of us love those activities. They challenge our brain in a way that regular material never could, not unless someone really likes to learn in the traditional way, which let’s be honest, is not that common. By listening to an American or other English speaking movie or some music, we will be able to improve all four elements of our language knowledge, which will almost surely pay dividends during the exam.
