Both adults and children have sleep cycles that go between deep sleep and light sleep. Children need much more sleep than their parents. Even though sometimes they want to stay up as long as their parents stay awake the need to sleep between nine and twelve hours every night. One if a proven fact, they need at least nine hours to be ready to participate properly in school activities.

However, there are many children who do not get this amount of sleep, and many of these do not do as well in school because of this. Children that are getting enough sleep, wake up easily and almost in the same time, every day. All parents who have trouble getting their children to wake up in the morning, should know that their children need more sleep.

Children who spend long hours watching TV or in front of the computer can have disturbed routine of falling asleep.
Children should also be able to fall asleep quickly, as if they toss and turn for more than thirty minutes before they fall asleep, there might be some kind of a problem. This needs to be discussed with the children, and if nor resolved, ask for expert help.

Children should be able to stay awake throughout the day if they are getting proper sleep at night. A substantial number of children are not alert at school and that their drowsiness interferes with their education to some extent.

Therefore, regular going to bed routine must be introduced, children need to be monitored how much time they spend in from of the computer and the TV all in a direction of having stable educational routine, that will be much needed from the very beginning of their educational life until the need of their life.
