Tools and apps to make your study more productive

Every student knows that help is important and we take it any way we can get it. These days there are so many balancing acts we have to do, that at times it just seems completely impossible that we will be able to make it. What we need to realize is that there is help out there and some people have worked hard to create tools and apps to help us get through our studies.

If you are a new student who will be starting your studies in 2018, I have just the tools and apps to help you stay productive. Even though our studies may be in different areas of focus, when it comes to being productive, it all comes down to the same thing. When you are a writer, you know that a paraphrasing tool is important, and when you are a student, the tools to help with productivity mean a lot. Here is my list of tools and apps to help you achieve your academic goals.

With the amount of work that will be thrown at you, it might be easier to break it up into smaller sections. We have learned this at school and trust me – it still works after high school. What makes this site great is the fact that it takes a lot of content and breaks it up, while creating a mind map. Mind maps are a wonderful way of learning because they connect the dots and help you better understand what you are learning about. They also offer a host of other helpful tools all built into one. You can create flashcards, a schedule and create quizzes to test your knowledge. It’s like a one-stop-shop.

  • StudyBlue

Nothing motivates you more than knowing you are not alone. Being part of a group works for a lot of people and study groups are always a winner if you are connected with the right people. What this tool does is it that you are connected with students who have similar interests, goals and subjects to cover. You are then allowed to share your notes, flashcards and ideas with the rest of your group. This is going to save you a lot of time down the line and might even change the way you look at your subject. It is important to add value to those who are in your group. It’s a win-win situation for all students.

  • memorize.com

Some individuals find it difficult to learn terms and definitions and this is where this tool comes in. Mermorize.com encourages collaboration with other students and is an effective way of remembering important facts. If you are looking for a rewarding tool, you might find one from one of the students you are working with. You can use flashcards, multiple choice questions or a system of matching. I find it easy to memorize a chunk of work through this tool.

  • iStudiez Lite

We are constantly on our phones as students and this is a great app to download. How much of time do you waste watching television, instead of hitting the books? We are all guilty of doing this and it does become a stress factor down the line. This app has great schedule tool that can be used for the exam plan, preparation for a test or an assignment that needs to be worked on. Sometimes we think we have a lot of time left before an assignment is due, because we do not schedule effectively. This is the app to help you overcome that.

  • Quizlet

Even though this app has been live for a while, it is still a popular choice for many students. A paraphrase tool might not be what you are looking for right now, but what about an app that helps you cover your work in a short amount of time? As the name suggests, this app quizzes you on your work and helps you know exactly where you are in your studies. There are a variety of quizzes set up by other students, but if you cannot find one that covers your work, you can always create your own one.

This is one of the best mind mapping apps and it does not cost you a cent. You can also use it as a tool to plan and schedule your study sessions. This tool only runs on a desktop or laptop, but we already spend so much time on the computer, I doubt that would be a stumbling block. Mind mapping is a great way to learn and even if you have never given it a try, it is definitely worth a shot.

There is nothing wrong with making your life a little easier as a student and you should take all the help you can get. It is not easy being a student and these tools and apps are going to elevate a little of your stress. What works for one might not work for everyone, but you can choose what suits you.
