Which degree to get?

It is a well known fact that we spend several years of study to practice the chosen career. The question : Which degree to get? is something that bothers many students and can sometimes be a problem choosing what to study, if you have many interests, or if you are not really interested in any particular field of study.

In case you do not have very clear view what is your vocation, you can begin to discard all knowledge areas you are not attracted to.

With this simple exercise you will avoid making wild decisions and will identify the areas of study that are closest to your true interests.

For example, if you know that you are not good in numbers or formulas, it is better that you focus on the humanities and social area. If you like drawing, opt for engineering or architecture. And if you are really passionate about caring for others, may be in your future health.

All new College Degrees are grouped into five areas of knowledge:

Social Sciences and Law • Arts and Humanities • Sciences • Health Sciences • Engineering and Architecture

Each of these areas requires a number of specific qualities that you should consider.

If you have skill with numbers, your performance will be much larger and more satisfying if you choose math and economics studies, architecture or engineering. if you have artistic skills or manual skills, you will feel more comfortable studying art or design.

Social and Legal Sciences

These studies are dedicated to the exploration of the society, from multiple perspectives. Man as an individual and in relation to the environment, law, politics, economy, trade, education and communication are the most important fields of these courses. Within this area there are several subgroups: Social Sciences, Economics and Business Studies, Information Sciences and Legal Sciences.

The Art Education is for those who want to be professionals in art segments. They are essentially practical and prepare the student in any of the following disciplines: drama, ceramics, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, dance, design, music and glass.

Science and Health Sciences

The first group includes basic content of science and math physics, while the second comprises studies related to health.  Both areas approach their objects of study from scientific and technical perspectives and have many points in common.

Engineering and Architecture

All included studies in this field, impart a general training to enable the professionals to adapt to any sector of the economy, performing a variety of functions. This versatility increases the chances of the professionals to enter the labour market. They will restructure the environment that we live and will gain construction and design skills.

If you have not decided what will be your profession, there are numerous tools/tests that you can use to determine your skills, preferences and knowledge on a particular topic, so that you can make the right choice.
