List some options

Start with a list of jobs you can manage while keeping your grades up. These jobs should be flexible and paid by the hour. When you find a job that pays by the hour, it is easier to manage your finances. You are usually also able to flex these types of jobs easily.

The best cover letter

The cover letter is still in play and can be the deciding factor in the hiring process. Write a convincing cover letter in simple language terms. You don’t have to sound like a professor to get hired. Just be yourself and explain how you can add value to the business. It’s fairly simple, but you want to make sure you don’t use a generic cover letter for all of the positions you apply for.

A winning resume

Just because you are still a student does not mean you don’t have much to put on your resume. Look for the best resume app if you are unsure of how to do one yourself. We have access to wonderful online resources and you should make use of it. Make sure your resume includes all of your current information and any skills you can bring to the table.

Look for available positions

Now that you have your list, take one by one and look for available posts. This can be the most difficult part in the quest to employment. Apply for everyone that makes sense and are close to where you stay. Local newspapers still post ads, so don’t forget to check those. We usually pop online for everything, but there are some gems in the good old newspaper.

Look into freelancing

One of the best jobs for college students would be to find freelancing gigs. You can do this in your own time, as long as you deliver before the due date. It is also great that you can work remotely. This will reduce your commute costs and give you more time to work. There are so many freelancing options available. You don’t really have to be an expert in any field. Teach yourself a new skill and use it on your resume current job and you should land your first gig.

Check with your school

A lot of times you can find a part-time job at your school. Ask around and you might be surprised at the number of positions available. Imagine working as a library assistant. You can do so much school work when it is quiet. This job also pays really well and if you can land a job there, you get the best of both worlds. Working in the cafeteria is also a great option for students. You can simply walk from your dorm or head over during lunch breaks.

How do you manage school and your part-time job?

It is easier said than done, but balancing both worlds is possible. Do not be intimidated by the number of hours you will need to dedicate to your new job. Once you find your rhythm, it becomes easier. There is an element of organization you would need to acquire, but this comes with the territory. Many students manage to get this right and so will you.
